The Accuphase Culture

A fantastic report. Thank You!

I’ve followed the different models since my first preamp which was the C-200 and I still keep it.  It works perfect after 33
years.  Do you know if the company staff still uses speakers from JBL in the evaluation rooms...?

Sincerely Yours,

Bengt Johansson

Dear Bengt,

The following is a Reply from Accuphase HQ:

"
Dear Constantine,

Actually, we have been using B&W mainly in our listening room for amplifier evaluations.  As B&W’s are rumored to be
selling well in Europe, we would like to find out how it sounds with our products.

However, we sometimes use JBL for demonstrations as well.  And, sometimes we also use Tannoy, and etc.  It depends
on individual circumstances, and, in speaker selection, our goal is always one in getting the speaker's full potential and
its native characteristic with our amplification.

Subject = ELAC CL330JET minimonitor

Hi there,

I wish to know what type of amplifier is suitable for this pair of speakers.  Are there any digital amps out there which you
would recommend? Thank you.

Sam

Dear Sam,

Thank you for your letter and readership.

As I have not reviewed any digital amplifiers, I am not able to impart any comments onto the kind.  As for suitable
amplifiers for driving the ELAC CL330JET, since I am no longer using it, I can only deferred to my 2004 review.

Sincerely,

Constantine Soo

Subject = Audio Note AN-E SPe HE Review

I enjoyed your review of the speakers but would have appreciated knowing how they sounded away from corners.  I
know many Audio Note dealers in the U.S. ignore Peter's suggestions, and place his speakers against corners,
believing they sound better away from those bass boosters.

I'm curious to know how deep the speakers go when pulled away from the back wall and corners.

Thanks!

Vik

Dear Vik,

Thank you for your letter and readership.

In addition to Chris Redmond’s Review, I would like to offer my own finding on a pair of the AN-E SEC Signature placed
away from wall junctures for your consideration:

Subject = Furutech Audio Reference III & Speaker Reference III Review

"Next to a state of vacuum, silver has been recognized as the more
common metal with the highest conductivity next to gold."

This statement is a bit confusing.  I wasn't really sure what was being said here.

so.. I thought I'd write in with the following:

Silver is the most conductive, (i.e. the least resistive), metal at room tempreture.  Copper is indeed "next".  Gold
however, is AFTER copper.  (i.e. of the three metals, gold is the least conductive.)

Subject = Sonic Euphoria PLC review

Hi Dagogo,

I am the owner of one those pre amp.  My amp is McCormack DNA 125 that was previously coupled with a McCormack
preamp.  I tried also the Placette before the purchase of the Sonic.

My experience is very positive.  The Sonic is by far better in comparison to the McCormack.  It has more space and
detail.  I don´t detect any noticeable difference between the Placette and the Sonic.  For $300 extra I get 4 inputs and
very attractive presentation.

In summary, the Sonic gives to my set up a new dimension in sound and stage.  The only draw back is I spent almost
$2k in the preamp Mc and didn’t get the best.  Maybe this is main point of this hobby...some times you don´t receive
what you paid.  However, with the Sonic you receive more, more, more for what you paid.

I agree with A. Dudley, I call that a bargain, the best I ever had.
