Foothill Ranch, CA (June 15, 2005) – Linn launched its latest high-end multi-channel
sound systems, the Artikulat and Komponent. Taken place at Linn’s Elite specialist
retailer in Southern California, the Genesis Audio Video, Linn’s PR Manager, Brian
Morris, treated journalists to presentations in one of hte five demonstration rooms
at Genesis, demonstrating the Linn system of:
– Artikulat loudspeakers
– Unidisk 1.1
– Kisto system controller

The semi-active Artikulat 350 and associated electronics provided a pleasant testimonial on the proper implementation in multi-channel sound reproduction, as well as in standard 2-channel.
During auditioning, the Eagles were given ample breathing room in Hotel California on DVD-A, with virtual holographic localization of instruments in spaces between the front and rear channels to the left and right. Then, Brian Morris popped in a German heavy-metal music, and thanks to the incredibly potent bottom-end as produced by the 500-watt, servo-controlled 345 subwoofer, I received the most incredible 5-minute back and lower- back message from the shaken couch in years.
I was later treated to Prokofiev’s Classical Symphony in 5.1 DVD-A, and I couldn’t say I was conscious of sound from the rear channel; but the soundstaging specificity and timbral suppleness were exceptional.
Philip Hobbs, Linn’s Head of Acoustic Design, explained to me that though a smaller version of Linn’s flagship Komri, the Artikulat represented an accomplishment of continuing research at Linn, on incorporating the core technology of Komri’s 4-K Array into a less sizeable home theater application, like the less expensive Akurate.
Hence, the new Artikulat range represents an ultimate expression of Linn’s loudspeaker technology using the 3-K Array.

At lunch, catered food was served, and Constantine wondered to the back
of the store and found steeply discounted demo Linn units with full
warranty, such as a Linn Genki at $995 ($1,900), a LK140 amplifier at
$1,150 ($1,495), a 2250 amplifier at $1,995 ($3,295), among others.

The Artikulat Loudspeaker System
ARTIKULAT is a gorgeous sounding new high-performance loudspeaker system from Linn which combines simply stunning performance with luxurious appearance. The unique 3-K Driver Array is a precision machined die-cast component housing an optimized and acoustically matched grouping of the mid-range, high-frequency and super high-frequency drive units. It is designed and manufactured to ensure an exceptionally wide horizontal and vertical dispersion, precise high-frequency response and single point source accuracy. The superbly balanced sound stage is wonderfully natural and open for perfectly stable stereo and seamless surround sound performance.
Linn servo-controlled bass technology extends Linn’s renowned pitch-accurate low frequency reproduction and ensures minimal distortion, by constantly measuring and comparing driver motion to the original audio signal and modifying amplifier power output to compensate for any non-linearity of the bass driver.
