Pass Labs launches new flagship Xs-300 and Xs-150 dual-chassis monoblock amplifiers

Nelson Pass and his crew has released the best of his efforts since his Threshold and Aleph days: the Xs-300 and Xs-150 amplifiers. Each monoblock of these powerhouses features one chassis for power supply and current source, and another chassis for input and output stage. According to Pass Labs, the “separate power supplies enable a bounty of benefits, including lower electromagnetic noise, twice as much storage capacitance as earlier Pass Labs amps, banks of high-speed/soft-recovery rectifiers, improved high-frequency noise filters, bigger and better transformers, improved passive decoupling, massive heat sinks, and lower standby currents.

The Xs Series went through three years of developmental stages, in which year one saw R&D work on the power supply and physical package, and year two saw finalization of the output stage and front end. In the third year, the front end and biasing of output stage was completed.

The company claims that the Xs Series significantly increased the single-ended bias in the output stage over earlier Pass Labs amplifiers, and the sturdy output stage transistors now boasts a combined capacity well over 10 KW with a massive heat sink that dissipates 2 KW all day long!

The Xs-300 will be shown at Axpona 2013.  Look Dagogo’s write up on this new amplifier.

MSRPs:

Xs-300, $85,000 per pair

Xs-150, $65,000 per pair
