The San Francisco Bay Area’s very own California Audio Show is on again.
The second annual CAS is due to take place between Friday July 15 and Sunday July 17, at the Crowne Plaza SFO, Burlingame (1177 Airport Blvd, Burlingame, CA 94010. This year, we will bring more high-quality exhibits than last year’s inaugural event. Bay Area’s exclusive jazz radio station KCSM (FM 91.1) has begun on-air announcements, and classic rock station KOIT (FM 96.5) will begin its promotion of the CAS in mid-June as well. KCSM will even have a Hospitality Reception Booth on the hotel’s Lobby level!
Price for a 3-Day Pass is only $10 via credit card online registration; $20 at the door. Bring your photo ID and pick up your Pass at the show.
Last year in our inaugural California Audio Show, the former hotel could only support 6 large exhibits and the rest were all standard rooms. This year, Crowne Plaza at the San Francisco International Airport will support 6 large and 7 medium-sized exhibits on the Lobby level alone! Then you will find 30 more exhibits on the hotel floors, from the 2nd Floor to the 5th Floor. New exhibitors are signing up continuously, so come join us and have the blast of a lifetime!
In addition, the CP is chosen as this year’s official venue also for its strategic location. Attendees from all over the Bay Area can take BART to the brand new SFO terminal, where they can hop onto the hotel’s complimentary shuttle bus on the upper level 24 hours of the day for a free, 10-minute ride to the show. There is also the Caltrain Broadway Station that operates on the Saturday and Sunday of the show. The station is only 8 minutes of walk to the Crowne Plaza via the overhead pedestrian walkway.
If you are driving to the show, you will find plenty of parking spaces inside the Crowne Plaza, as well as at the various surrounding hotels, such as the Holiday Inn Express, Hyatt Regency, Bay Landing Hotel, Vagabond Inn, San Francisco Airport Marriott Waterfront, etc.
In additional to the 6 large and 7 medium-sized exhibits on the Lobby level, 9 Seminars will be featured on all three days of the show. But before I get to the details, I would like to express my gratitude towards Chris Klein of Acoustic Science Corporation, whose support of the inaugural and this year’s CAS has been phenomenal and unheard of among shows. Chris will be driving a truck larger than last year’s filled with TubeTraps of various sizes to the Crowne Plaza, and he will customize the acoustics of many exhibits so that attendees will hear the best performance of our exhibitors’ systems.
For instance, major Lobby level exhibits such as Blue Coast Records/Tim Marutani Consulting, Music Lover’s/Musical Surroundings, Audio Vision San Francisco, MIT Cables, Legacy Audio, Loggie Audio, Audio Image, MBL and High Value AV will benefit from the acoustic treatment in the form of ASC’s TubeTraps. The benefits as accorded by the TubeTraps are particularly crucial to the Blue Coast Records/Tim Marutani Consulting Exhibit, as the company will record live artists performance on the spot! Live recording sessions will take place every day of the show at 11am and 4pm. Those of you attending the recording sessions will be part of the event archived in DSD permanently for posterity. Don’t miss it, seating is limited. It is noteworthy that many of the world’s top professional mastering and recording studios are clients of ASC, including that of the late Michael Jackson.
I also have a complete suite of ASC TubeTraps in my listening room, and let me tell you this: no equipment and speaker in the world can overcome a poor sound room.
