Nagra Compact Player with PSU

Romanel-sur-Lausanne, Switzerland – February 25, 2026 — There are certain names in audio that carry more than technical meaning. They carry emotion, heritage, and the promise of musical truth. For decades, Nagra has been one of those names – synonymous with Swiss precision and a uniquely natural, lifelike sound.

With the introduction of the Nagra Compact Player, Audio Technology Switzerland SA opens a new chapter, bringing the essence of Nagra performance into more homes than ever before.

Compact in form yet profound in expression, the Compact Player was conceived with a clear ambition: to make authentic high-end musical reproduction more attainable, without compromising the values that define the brand.

Music, Made Personal Again

The Nagra Compact Player is a complete high-end digital source, combining advanced streaming architecture with a carefully engineered D/A conversion stage developed in accordance with Nagra’s long-standing design principles.

At its core, the Compact Player employs a high-performance D/A converter followed by a dual-mono analog output stage, with dedicated circuitry per channel to enhance channel separation and minimize crosstalk. Particular attention has been devoted to clock architecture, power supply regulation, and PCB layout to ensure low jitter, reduced noise, and optimal signal integrity throughout the conversion process.

The Compact Player supports PCM up to 384 kHz / 32-bit and DSD 256, whether streamed from major online platforms or reproduced from locally stored files via UPnP/DLNA or USB storage. With a measured noise floor of –140 dB (A-weighted) and a low output impedance of 14 Ohms, it integrates seamlessly with a wide range of preamplifiers, integrated amplifiers, or even directly with power amplifiers or active loudspeakers.

Yet beyond architecture and specifications lies what ultimately defines a Nagra component: musical coherence.

The Compact Player delivers a presentation that is fluid and unforced, with stable imaging and precise spatial layering. The soundstage develops with convincing dimensionality and air. Bass extends deeply while remaining controlled and articulate, and dynamic contrasts are rendered with natural ease rather than exaggerated effect.

The result is a reproduction that approaches the character of live performance – continuous, harmonically complete, and free from digital glare – reaffirming the Compact Player’s position as a true Nagra component, regardless of its compact form factor.

Designed for Modern Living

High-end audio no longer lives in isolation. Today’s systems are integrated into refined living spaces, where aesthetics, discretion and functionality must coexist with uncompromising performance.

The Compact Player embodies this evolution. Its chassis, precisely CNC-machined from a solid aluminum billet, provides the mechanical rigidity and vibration resistance essential for low-noise digital performance. At the same time, its compact footprint ensures seamless integration into contemporary interiors and space-conscious installations.

It is, as always with Nagra, “as large as necessary and no larger” – a disciplined expression of engineering restraint.

The Compact Player supports the following streaming services and platforms:

  • Qobuz Connect
  • TIDAL Connect
  • Spotify Connect
  • AirPlay 2 (for Apple devices)
  • Roon Ready & Roon Tested
  • Plays with Audirvana
  • vTuner (access to thousands of radio stations)

Local files are directly accessible via UPnP/DLNA or USB storage. Controlled through an intuitive mobile interface, the experience remains modern and seamless without sacrificing audiophile integrity.

A Gateway to the Nagra Universe

For decades, Nagra has represented a benchmark in audio – admired for its mechanical precision, sonic integrity and unmistakable character.

The Compact Player redefines access to that legacy. It is neither an entry-level compromise nor a simplified expression. Designed, engineered and built in Switzerland, it upholds the same dedication to sonic truth that defines the brand’s most prestigious references.

Whether serving as the centerpiece of a carefully curated system, the core of a minimalist installation connected directly to a power amplifier or active loudspeakers, or as the digital source in a refined secondary setup, the Compact Player enables a wider audience to experience genuine Nagra performance as part of everyday life.

It introduces Nagra into more homes: thoughtfully, credibly, and without dilution of identity.

Built to Grow with You

The Compact Player is supplied with an external 12 V DC power supply that ensures stable, low-noise operation from the outset. In keeping with Nagra’s long-term ownership philosophy, the design also allows for further performance optimization through optional upgrades.

The dedicated Compact PSU offers enhanced regulation and improved current delivery, contributing to greater dynamic stability and lower residual noise. Complementary vibration control solutions improve mechanical grounding and overall signal integrity, allowing the unit to extract additional resolution and spatial definition.

These refinements are not cosmetic; they measurably reduce noise and enhance micro-dynamic articulation and soundstage precision. The Compact Player is therefore not merely a digital source, but a scalable foundation designed to evolve within a high-performance system over time – a component intended for enduring ownership rather than short-term replacement.
