Clarisys Audio debuted the Piccolo, its full-ribbon panel speakers with yet the smallest dimensions.
On hand to walk us through the juicy tidbits of the desing was Ron Resnick of Audio Cafe, Beveryly Hills, CA. Electonics support were by Gary Leeds of WestminsterLab.
Sitting at the center in the first row, I heard a very three-dimensional projection, likely by virtue of the speaker’s single-driver ribbon column being positioned on the inside. The column covers 750 Hz and up! For anyone looking for smaller speaker packages and yet prepared to spend a good dime for something rare, unique, and of reference caliber, the Piccolo is just exquisite. And the ribbon woofers are just insanely forceful. Can’t imagine what the bigger models can do, and don’t think I’d ever heard my old Apogee Duetta Signature that all-out in all parameters. This is a loudspeaker that is constructed like a piece of sculpture on custom display stand.
The WestminsterLab REI pure class A monoblocks are probably the physically least imposing in the industry, and with the LampizatOR Poseidon DAC being the only vacuum tube device of the entire system, the presentation oozed force from within the elegance.
