SHOW REPORT

The Audio Note UK room was presented by dealership True Sound, and it was packed just like last year. Lee Chen of True Sound counted 85 new visitors by Saturday afternoon!
Many of them sat for an hour or longer.
The AN-E/SPx Ltd field-coil speaker system, the star of the room, returned from last year, except this time it was in piano black. The multi-layer lacquered finish was mesmerizing to say the least. Sometimes I feel like there is no need to mention the sound but to talk about the aesthetics instead, for everyone was partaking in the annual ritual of just being present and soaking in all that silky sound. But, for the record, the mere eight watts of output per channel was enough to compel the speakers to extreme volume and performance. And Leonard Norwitz, a longtime Bay Area Audio Note UK personality, played all kinds of music, including some exceptionally dynamic orchestral passages.
With an analog gig comprising a TT Three turntable system with the PSU4 power supply, plus the exotic AN-S9 SUT no less, the audience could never get enough, especially with the company’s own IO Gold cartridge in tow. New on hand was the Meishu Kapellmeister integrated amplifier for its U.S. premiere.
In dormancy was the CD3.1x/II, it never got a chance with unceasing LP playback requests. I would’ve loved to experience the Analog Device chipset as executed by Audio Note UK.
